Kyle Navin Gets Continuance In Case Of Murdered Parents

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- A Bridgeport man charged with killing his parents in 2015 briefly appeared in court on Monday, where his case was continued to Aug. 8, according to the Connecticut Post.

Kyle Navin has been charged with two counts of murder and one count of murder under special circumstances in connection with the deaths of his parents, Jeanette and Jeffrey Navin of Easton. He was arrested in November 2015 after his parents' bodies were found buried in the yard of an abandoned home in Weston, according to police.

Navin's girlfriend, Jennifer Valiente, 31, has also been charged with conspiracy to commit murder and hindering prosecution in connection with the case.

Jeanette and Jeffrey Navin had been reported missing about two months before their remains were found in the yard of a home on Norfield Road in Weston. Jeffrey Navin, 56, was president of J&J Refuse in Westport, where Kyle Navin was operations manager. Jeanette Navin, 55, was a library paraprofessional at Weston Intermediate School.

The warrant for Kyle Navin's arrest detailed a strained relationship with his parents, and also revealed that he had a heroin problem and financial troubles, according to state police. Police also discovered text messages between Navin and Valiente that detailed his plans to murder his parents, and found blood from Jeffrey Navin in Kyle Navin's basement, according to police.

Navin, who is being held on a $2.5 million bond, is reportedly deciding between accepting a plea deal or going to trial. If convicted, he could face a maximum sentence of life in prison.
