Danbury Police told the News-Times that they were not involved in the detainment of the two men, and did not know on what charges the men were being held. One of the men was taken into custody at a Franklin Street apartment and taken by ICE agents to an unknown location, the News-Times reported. The second was taken into custody in front of the Old Oak Restaurant, according to the News-Times.
One of the apprehensions was caught on video and posted on social media. According to the Tribuna Newspaper, the man in the video has a criminal record and appeared in court on charges of risk of injury to a minor.
An organizer for CT Students for a Dream told the News-Times that the incident has caused anxiety among the student's immigrant community, and called on Danbury officials to clarify how much the city is cooperating with ICE.
