First Selectman Marpe Swears In Westport's Newest Police Officer

WESTPORT, Conn. -- First Selectman Jim Marpe was on hand Monday, March 2, at Town Hall on Myrtle Avenue to swear in the Westport Police Department’s newest officer.

Charles J. Sampson, formerly of the Waterbury Police Department, officially became a member of Westport’s finest after the swearing-in ceremony Monday morning.

A 22-year veteran of police work, Sampson is also a certified firefighter in Connecticut and former fire chief of the Derby Fire Department, a Westport Police press release said.

He also currently serves as director of the Derby Emergency Management Office.
