WESTPORT, Conn. -- Westport firefighters responded to a kitchen blaze at a multifamily home on Post Road East Wednesday night, Feb. 17, fire officials said.
The fire was contained to the kitchen after a sprinkler was activated and successfully extinguished the fire, fire officials said. Crews from four engine companies, one truck company and the shift commander responded to the fire.
All occupants inside the complex had been evacuated, and no one was injured.
Crews checked to make certain the fire had not spread beyond the kitchen area, and all companies assisted with the salvage and overhaul due to smoke and water damage throughout the home.
The Westport Fire Department’s Fire Marshal's Office is investigating. The Westport Housing Authority and Red Cross provided temporary assistance to the families that were displaced.
