Fallen Tree Closes Main Street In Westport

WESTPORT, Conn. -- Police are warning drivers to avoid Main Street in Westport Monday evening after a tree fell on wires.

Police said around 5:15 p.m. that a large tree is currently suspended on wires in the area of Main Street south of Compo Road North, causing traffic delays. 

Main Street is closed from the intersection with Cross Highway to Compo Road North. Northbound traffic on Main Street is being diverted up Cross Highway and southbound traffic is being diverted to Compo Road North and/or Clinton Avenue

Eversource has been notified and will respond for repairs. Police said the exact timeframe for repairs and reopening of the road is unknown, but the work is expected to be completed Monday night.
