Officers responded to a call from a female at about 8:40 a.m. March 10 at the intersection who had found two dead skunks, one of which appeared to be hung by a noose, according to a Fairfield Police press release.

"The first skunk was found with heavy string wrapped around its neck and was nailed to the pole about 4 feet from the ground," the press release said. The other was at the base of the pole.

Also found on the SNET pole was a laminated sign that read "Obama Stinks," and an American flag with a hammer and cycle symbol in place of the stars, police said.

At this time Fairfield Police are investigating the incident, and more information will be provided when available.
