A loss prevention officer at the Tunxis Hill Road store said he saw Amanda Marie Lovar, 25, of East Main Street, pick out about $247 worth of clothing and put it in her bag before leaving the store. She was confronted outside and said she needed clothes for her son, police said.

She was charged with sixth-degree larceny in the 4:30 p.m. incident.

About four hours later, Karol Guevara-Zavaleta, 24, of Emerald Street, was accused of going into a fitting room with a bag and a shoebox and coming out with only the bag containing a $79.99 pair of boots, police said. She was detained when she attempted to leave the store, police said.

She was also charged with sixth-degree larceny.

Both of the women were released on a promise to appear in court on Oct. 24.
