Fairfield Cops: Trumbull Man Harasses Ex, Held On $100,000 Bond

Gregg Gerathy, 56, of Wheeler Drive, sent texts to the woman last month, in violation of a criminal restraining order against him, police said.

The victim’s attorney went to the Fairfield Police headquarters on Dec. 12, seeking a full criminal protective order against Gerathy, police said. He showed officers the texts that Gerathy, who has a lengthy criminal record, sent to the victim between Dec. 8 and Dec. 12, police said.

After an investigation, Gerathy was arrested Jan. 9 and charged with first-degree harassment and violation of a standing criminal restraining order, police said. He was held on $100,000 bond and scheduled to appear in court Jan. 10.

Gerathy’s criminal record includes charges of second-degree strangulation, unlawful restraint, violation of protective orders and violation of probation, police said. It was unclear whether those charges represented the original assault in Trumbull or a separate case, police said.
