Driver Hospitalized After Car Hits Tree In Westport

WESTPORT, Conn. — An unidentified driver was sent to Norwalk Hospital with injuries after the car crashed into a tree in Westport on Tuesday morning, fire officials said.

The accident occurred at about 10 a.m. in front of 8 Bridge St., Deputy Fire Chief Robert Kepchar reported. The driver of the car, a late model Toyota Highlander, was evaluated at the scene and transported to the hospital by Westport EMS, Kepchar said. The extent of the driver’s injuries was unknown, he said.

The car sustained heavy-front end damage and both front airbags deployed in the crash, Kepchar said. The car was towed from the scene.
