One arrest came Oct. 10 at about 6:55 p.m. when an Easton officer saw a motor vehicle stopped in the travel portion of Route 59, impeding traffic, police said.

When the officer approached to see whether the driver needed help, he noticed a strong odor of alcohol coming from the driver and the vehicle, police said.

The driver, identified as Pamela Warzel, 52, told the officer that "she was fine and just needed to rest" before driving home to her residence at 710 N. Park Ave., Easton, police said.

Her vehicle however, was facing away from her residence to travel in the opposite direction, police said.

Warzel was asked to perform several sobriety tests but did not pass, police said. She was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence. Warzel also stated that she did not need a lawyer because she is a lawyer, police said. She was released on $100 cash bond and is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 24.

Also on Oct. 10, Easton police arrested 19-year-old Thomas Burke III of 62 Chestnut St., Danbury. Burke went into the Easton Police Department after learning of an active warrant for his arrest.

On Aug. 4, officers were dispatched to the area of Route 136 at Mills Lane on a report of a motor vehicle crash.

The vehicle had come to rest against a tree on the private property at 880 Westport Road/Route 136, police said.

As the officer spoke to the driver, identified Burke, he could smell the distinct odor of an alcoholic beverage, police said.

Due to his apparent injuries, Burke was transported to the hospital for treatment, police said.

Burke was processed on a court-ordered warrant and charged with driving under the influence, use of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance or less than 4 ounces of marijuana and failure to drive right.

Burke was released on a promise to appear and a court date of Oct. 19.
