The task force executed three search warrants at 225 Hawley Ave., second floor, Bridgeport, as part of a heroin trafficking investigation involving Ramon Rosado, a convicted felon, Bridgeport Police Sgt. Amato said.

Police surveillance had been set up in the area near the Rosado’s residence, Amato said. He was spotted driving a 2002 Honda Civic on Hawley Street toward his home and was stopped by Task Force members, he said.

They seized six baggies of heroin (1.6 grams) from the vehicle and $486 in cash found in Rosado's possession, Amato said.

His girlfriend, a female neighbor and three children, ages 3, 4 and 10, were inside the residence when officers arrived with the search warrant, Amato said.

A search of the home turned up a small amount of marijuana and a drug scale as well as a stolen Ruger 9mm handgun with three high-capacity 17 round magazines loaded with a total of 43 live rounds, Amato said.

Rosado was arrested and processed at State Police Troop G in Bridgeport. The children were left with the mothers, who did not know that there was a gun in the residence, police said.

Rosado was charged with possession of narcotics with intent to sell, criminal possession of firearm, criminal possession of high-capacity magazines, criminal possession of ammunition, illegal gun transfer, and risk of injury to minors.
