Chicago Man Caught In Trumbull With 28 Pounds Of Heroin Gets 12 Years

TRUMBULL, Conn. -- A Chicago man who was caught with 28 pounds of heroin when he was stopped in Trumbull last May has been sentenced to 12 years in prison, according to the Connecticut Post.

Jose Adorno, 51, told state troopers that he was traveling from Chicago to Hartford to visit his sister when he was pulled over on Route 15 in Trumbull for driving erratically on May 17, according to the Connecticut Post. Troopers became suspicious and searched Adorno's trunk, where they found a backpack with 11 bricks of heroin, weighing a total of nearly 28 pounds, the Connecticut Post reported.

Adorno told police that he didn't know what was in the backpack, but later pleaded guilty to possession of heroin with intent to sell, according to the Connecticut Post. He was sentenced on Thursday to 12 years in prison, the Connecticut Post reported.
