Car Crashes Into Westport Condo

WESTPORT, Conn. – A black Infinity damaged the outside of a condominium in the Lansdowne complex off Post Road East in Westport on Friday evening. No injuries were reported, Assistant Fire Chief John Plofkin Jr. said in a statement.

Westport police, firefighters and EMS were called to the accident shortly after 5 p.m. Upon arrival, emergency personnel found the car resting up against the side of the building and the driver outside of the car, walking around, Plofkin said.

The car crashed through a trellis and damaged exterior lighting along the walkway, Plofkin said. Firefighters had to use a hydraulic jack to raise the trellis off the car for the vehicle to be removed. The trellis was secured using wood planks, Plofkin said.

The town building official and the building owner were called to the scene to evaluate damage. The car was towed on a flatbed truck. The scene was cleared at approximately 5:53 p.m.
