WESTPORT, Conn. — A 23-year-old Bridgeport woman accused of striking two vehicles from behind in Westport and trying to flee was arrested after being boxed in by a delivery truck, police said.
The woman is charged with hitting two vehicles from behind and fleeing the area on Riverside Avenue near Bridge Street on June 22, police said.
A witness followed the vehicle involved in the crashes to Birchwood Lane, police said. A delivery truck driver had also seen the vehicle leaving, called police and blocked in the vehicle, police said.
Upon approaching the vehicle, officers could smell alcohol on the breath of vehicle’s driver, Racheal Gonzalez, as she spoke, according to police.
Gonzalez was combative with officers and failed field sobriety tests, police said.
She was taken into custody and charged with operating under the influence of drugs/alcohol, reckless driving not greater than 85 mph, evading responsibility and interfering with an officer, according to police.
Bond was set at $2,000, and Gonzalez’s court date is July 2, according to police.
