Bridgeport Woman, 49, Busted On Charges Of Selling Prescription Drugs

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- A 49-year-old Bridgeport woman was charged with selling prescription drugs early Wednesday after detectives with the Connecticut State Police Statewide Narcotics Task Force searched her Bell Street home.

According to state police, detectives located hundreds of prescription pills and a number of handguns and rifles during the search, all of which were seized. 

The home of Miriam Almourtada-Cotto was searched at about 5 a.m., state police said. A search-and-seizure warrant was executed with the assistance of the Bridgeport Police Emergency Services Unit. 

The warrant was issued after an investigation into the sale of prescription pills by Almourtada-Cotto, state police said. Her home at 28 Bell St. is near Harding High School and  Bridgeport Hospital. 

Almourtada-Cotto was charged with sale of narcotics, sale of a controlled substance, sale of narcotics within 1,500 feet of a school, possession of narcotics with the intent to sell, and failure to keep prescriptions in their proper containers.

She was released after posting $100,000 bond. She is set to appear in court on July 27.
