Bridgeport Man Charged In Box Cutter Robbery, Assault In Norwalk

NORWALK, Conn. — A Bridgeport man who has previously been convicted of manslaughter and robbery was arrested in Norwalk Wednesday and charged with taking part in a robbery where a man was slashed with a box cutter, according to the Hour.

The robbery took place on Sept. 8 on Woodward Avenue, according to police. One suspect, 38-year-old Gregory Sayles of Norwalk, was previously arrested and charged with first-degree robbery and assault in connection with the robbery, according to police.

Douglas Buster, 44, of Bridgeport was charged on Wednesday with taking part in the robbery, according to the Hour. Buster is accused of holding the victim's hands behind his back while Sayles slashed him with a box cutter, according to the Hour.

Buster has previously been convicted of first-degree manslaughter in 1991, and was sentenced to 20 years in prison, the Hour reported. He was also convicted of robbery in 2007, with unlawful restrain and threatening in 2012, and reckless endangerment, risk of injury to a minor and threatening in 2013, according to the Hour.

Buster told police that he and Sayles took the money from the victim, but that he was just joking and gave the money back before Sayles slashed the victim's face, according to the Hour. He was charged with first-degree assault, first-degree robbery and conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery, and was held on a $150,000 bond, according to the Hour.
