The accident occurred on Hillandale Road at West Parish Road at 10:50 a.m. Thursday, Lt. Arthur Belile said. The bicyclist, identified as Alix Boyer of Hales Court, was treated by responding officers and EMS on the scene before being transported to the hospital, Belile said.

The bicyclist's condition was not known Thursday afternoon.

The preliminary investigation into the crash indicates that Boyer was riding his bicycle eastbound on Hillandale Road and failed to stop at the stop sign at West Parish Road, Belile said. As a result, he struck the left side panel of the van, which was driven by 22-year-old New Fairfield resident Michael Troiano, he said.

The van was traveling north on West Parish Road, Belile said. There is no stop sign for northbound traffic on West Parish Road at Hillandale Road, he said.

The accident remains under investigation by the Westport Police Patrol Division.
