WESTON, Conn. -- Winter is almost over and that means the bears are waking up and looking for food, according to the Weston Forum.

Animal Control officers, as well as residents have reported seeing black bears in yards and along roadways. The Animal Control office told the Weston Forum that they have been receiving numerous calls from residents of the bears coming close to homes, said the Weston Forum.

To prevent bears from wandering into your yard, officials suggest residents bring their bird feeders in and keep garbage cans inside. In addition, if a bear approaches you, yell and scream at the bear and wave your arms over your head to scare it away, added the Weston Forum.
