To the Editor:
Often on Election Day, we are left with a choice between the lesser of two evils.
But this Nov. 5, that will not be the case in Westport thanks to Jen Tooker's willingness to take on a new set of challenges as a member of the Board of Finance.
Jen will bring more than 20 years of experience in the financial industry with Berkshire Hathaway’s GenRe to the board.
Jen is a proven and capable leader, having served as vice chairman of the conservation commission and currently as a member of the board of education. Her deep understand of our first-class school system and its budget, which makes up 60 percent of the towns overall budget, will be an invaluable asset to the BOF.
A working mother with three children in the Westport school system, Jen still found time to serve as a coach for the Westport Soccer Association, as well as a volunteer with the Sunrise Rotary.
Jen will bring a warm and collaborative spirit to the BOF, while working to ensure our schools deliver the highest-quality education and that our town provides the amenities and services Westport expects at a price all taxpayers can afford.
I encourage you to vote for Jennifer Tooker for the board of finance on Election Day, Nov. 5. Westport will be a better place as a result.
