Westport Letter: Thanks For Supporting Salvation Army’s 'Christmas In July'

WESTPORT, Conn. -- The Westport Daily Voice accepts signed letters to the editor. Send letters to westport@dailyvoice.com.

To the Editor:

Thank you to all who so generously gave to the Salvation Army’s first “Christmas in July” appeal for our local Service Unit Fund, whose monies are used entirely to meet the emergency needs of residents in Easton, Fairfield, Weston and Westport.

Your kindness exceeded our goal, but never surpasses our belief in the compassion of our community toward the needs of our neighbors.

The fund’s directors, who include Terrie Giegengack, Barbara Butler, Charlene Chiang-Hillman and Josephine Sternquist, the directors of Social Services for Fairfield, Westport, Weston and Easton respectively, especially expresses its appreciation to management and employees of the Stop & Shop stores on Villa Avenue in Fairfield and their Post Road locations in both Westport and Fairfield, and to the downtown merchants in Fairfield for hosting our Red Kettles.

We also thank our volunteers including Syed Agha, Rex Craft, Kate Maxham, Molly Maxham and Chris Russo for the hours they spent ringing the bell of hope.

We look forward to and will ever appreciate your continuing support for our endeavors and those of all of goodwill in our communities.

Very truly yours,

Daniel F. Caruso,

Probate Judge of Fairfield Chairman
