To the Editor,

After the shooting that redefined tragedy here in Newtown and all over the world, I wrote to all Connecticut legislature asking for support of common sense gun legislation.

Many ignored me as I was not in their district, several sent form-emails thanking me for my input. And a few wrote personal, handwritten notes and emails, thanking me for reaching out, offering condolences, and promising to work hard to make sure this would not, could not ever happen again.

Kim Fawcett was one such person.

Kim is not the type of person wrapped up in a title, a political party, self-indulgent or self-involved, and isolated from the people she represents. She’s exactly the opposite: she wants to know what’s happening in the community she represents from the most extreme issues to most mundane, and doesn’t shy away from controversy or painful experiences. I saw her time and time again on the ground here in Newtown this summer, talking face-to-face about so many issues; listening, learning, and connecting on a personal level to everyone she met.

She’s a listener, and there’s no better attribute to have in Hartford. She listens to what’s broken, and comes up with a concrete plan on how we can start to fix it – with the community, bipartisan efforts, and her relentless effort, passion and compassion.

Kim Fawcett has proved she works for us: an active member of the community she represents, not a talking head spouting what she thinks we want to hear. Meet Kim and find out for yourself exactly what she has to offer State Senate District 28 (Newtown, Easton, Fairfield, Weston and Westport); you won’t be disappointed.

Honest, sincere, and authentic. All that with the brains and drive to get things done for the people she represents.

Kim Fawcett is exactly who I want in Hartford making sure Connecticut grows economically, and continues to be a safe place to live, work and raise a family.

Kindly, Kathryn Mayer
