WESTON, Conn. -- Funeral services were held Thursday for William Charles Gluck, a Greenwich native and captain of the Weston Volunteer Fire Department. He was 49.

In addition to serving with the Weston Volunteer Fire Department, Gluck was a member of the Noroton Fire Department in Darien for more than 30 years.

Born March 31, 1966, he was the son of Elizabeth White Gluck and Charles William Gluck of Darien. He is 1984 graduate of Darien High School and a 1989 graduate of the University of Rhode Island, where he served as president of Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity.

He also had a career with Hallmark Cards, Inc. for 26 years, most recently as the company's Northeast regional manager.

During his high school years, Gluck actively was involved in Explorer Post 53 EMS becoming an EMT and serving as its president his senior year. He went on to join the Noroton Fire Department, then later the Weston Volunteer Fire Department when he and his family moved to the area in 2005.

Gluck became a lieutenant in 2008 and captain in 2012. He also pursued other interests, such as sailing and golfing.

He is survived by his wife Hermione Ritchie Gluck and their three daughters, Allison, Hannah and Caroline of Weston. He's also is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Anne and James D. Orvis, and their children Ryan and Amanda, of Fairfield.

A full honor guard service was conducted Thursday, Dec. 3 at Norfield Congregational Church in Weston.
