WESTPORT, Conn. -- Former Westport resident Susanne (Sue, Susie) P. Lebrija died at home Dec. 11. She was 68.
Born on March 23, 1947, in New Brunswick, N.J., to John and Edith Pino, she was the oldest of four children.
Lebrija spent her early childhood in New Jersey until her father moved the family to Mexico City, Mexico, in 1955, where they lived for 10 years. She attended Colegio Merici, an Ursuline school.
Lebrija met Javier Lebrija in Mexico before moving back to the United States for a brief period of time before marrying and settling in Mexico in 1966.
The couple had five sons. Lebrija devoted her life to her family, and helping those in need. She served at the “Dispensario de Ayuda Social”, a social services agency in her hometown.
Lebrija movedto Connecticut in 2002.
She was Senior Services Coordinator at the Department of Human Services in Westport and medical translator/interpreter at AmeriCares in Norwalk.
Lebrija obtained a major in sociology at the College of New Rochelle in New York.
She was devoted to her parish, the Church of the Assumption in Westport.
Lebrija is survived by her father, Dr. John A. Pino of Norwalk; her husband, Javier Lebrija; sons and their families, Xavier Lebrija (Elsy), grandchildren, Xavier, Emilio, Elsa María, of Mexico City; Juan Lebrija (Sasha), grandchildren, Diego, Alexander, of Westport; Carlos Lebrija (Katya), grandchildren, Natalia, Mariana, of Wilton; Eugenio Lebrija (Sofía), of Mexico City; Patricio Lebrija (Natalia), grandchildren, Lucas, Nicolás, Mateo, of Austin, Texas; and brothers, Gene (Mary pat), of Westport and Tom (Nadine), of Sugar Land, Texas; .
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, at 10 a.m. in the Church of The Assumption, 98 Riverside Avenue, Westport.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Town of Westport, Department of Social Services, in her memory, which will be directed to the Senior Client Needs Fund or the Warm Up Fund. -
