Stephen M. Lessler, 92, Worked At Ed Mitchell's Of Westport

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Stephen Marvin Lessler of Fairfield died Sept. 23. He was 92.

Lessler was a Fairfield resident for over 65 years and was the son of Philip and Ruth Lessler of New York. He was the proprietor of Steven's Clothes and the Outlet Men's Store, longtime men's retail clothing stores in Bridgeport and later in Fairfield. He also worked at Rodney's Men Store in Bridgeport at the start of his career and at Nadelson's and at Ed Mitchell's of Westport at the end of his career. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. He was a founding and lifelong member of Congregation Beth El in Fairfield.

He is survived by his daughter, Terri Green and her husband Daniel of Fairfield, CT; by his son, Robert Lessler and his wife Debbie Pearlman of Easton, CT; and by his sister, Connie Stein Beskind of Westport, CT. He is also lovingly remembered by his adored grandchildren: Adam Lessler and his wife Matty Renny of New York City; Amy Lessler and her wife Allison Shaw of San Francisco; Annie Green and her husband Lenny Braman of New York City; Zachary Green of White Plains, NY; Sarah Lessler of Fairfield, CT; and Rebecca Lessler of Los Angeles; and by his devoted daughter-in-law, Karen Lessler Schwartz of Westport, CT. He is also survived by his great-granddaughter, Gwendolyn May Braman. He will be sadly missed by his dear sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Elaine and Herb Bregman of Stamford, CT and Alvin and Sarann Goldfield of Lexington, MA and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents; wife, Muriel Goldfield Lessler; and son, Peter Lessler.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28 at Congregation Beth El, 1200 Fairfield Woods Road, Fairfield. The shiva period will be observed at the home of Terri and Dan Green, 157 Crest Terrace, Fairfield, from Sunday, Sept. 28 through Tuesday, Sept. 30.
