Services Set For Matthew Thomas Ogiba, 69, Weston Volunteer Firefighter

WESTON, Conn. — Matthew Thomas Ogiba, a longtime resident of Weston, died at Norwalk Hospital on Friday, Dec. 8. He was 69.

Ogiba was born in Stamford on Oct. 10, 1948, the son of the late Matthew Henry Ogiba and Alexandria Loretta Czujak Ogiba. 

He was an active member of the Weston Volunteer Fire Department as well as a coach for his children’s sports teams. 

Ogiba grew up in the Springdale area of Stamford and graduated from Fairfield Prep. He graduated from Scranton University for his undergrad and completed his M.B.A from UConn before entering a career in finance.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Enid Hernandez Ogiba; and four children, Christian A. Ogiba, Matthew Brandon Ogiba, Elizabeth J.P. Ackerman and Kelly A.G. Ogiba.

Services will be held Friday, Dec. 15, at 11 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi in Weston. A reception sponsored by the Weston Volunteer Fire Department will follow.
