Services Set For Jack McMahon, 24, Of Southport

FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Jack Sherman McMahon of Southport, a 2011 graduate of Fairfield Prep, died on Monday, Aug. 28. He was 24.

McMahon attended the University of Alabama, where he was a member of Phi Sigma Kappa. Most recently, he was employed at the Cardinal Sheehan Center in Bridgeport.

He was the son of James and Joan McMahon and brother to Henry and Grace. He is survived by his grandfather, James McMahon Sr., and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

His interests included spending time on Lake George, taking trips to Wyoming, and fishing in the Florida Keys with his family. McMahon was also a talented golfer, which provided an opportunity to showcase his always-snappy attire.

His passion in life was his many friends, and he truly valued them all. He will be remembered for his humor, thoughtfulness, and caring nature. His love and kindness for others, especially his family and friends, will be an enduring memory.

McMahon was predeceased by his maternal grandmother Barbara H. Sherman; maternal step-grandmother Nancy C. Sherman; paternal grandmother Marcia C. McMahon; maternal grandfather Robert Dean Sherman; and cousin Tara McMahon.

Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, Fairfield Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10:30 a.m. directly in St. Pius X Church, 834 Brookside Drive, Fairfield. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Ryan Charles Brennan Memorial Scholarship at Fairfield College Preparatory School, 1073 N. Benson Road, Fairfield, CT 06824. This memorial and the Brennan family were very close to Jack McMahon’s heart.
