WESTPORT, Conn. – Robert A. Carusone, a retired Westport police officer of Fairfield, died July 27 at Norwalk Hospital. He was 68.
Born Oct. 16, 1943, in Bridgeport, he was son of the late Constantine A. and Sophie Jarocki Carusone. He retired to Westerly, R.I., in 2004 before moving to Fairfield five years ago.
A Westport resident for 60 years, Carusone most recently worked as a crossing guard at Green's Farms Elementary School. He was appointed to the Westport Police Department on Aug. 1, 1965, a desk officer on in 1969 and detective on in 1976.
Carusone also served on the Westport Police Scuba Team. He retired from the police force in 1999. He was a member of the Westport PBA, a past president of the Westport PAL and a former member of the Staples Gridiron Club. He was also honored by the Westport Sportsman.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Dorta Carusone, of Fairfield; a son, James R. (Dream) Carusone, of Bridgeport; a daughter, April Reeves, of Pennsylvania; a sister, Christine M. Carusone, of Westport; seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Carusone was predeceased by a brother, Peter G. Carusone.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Harding Funeral Home in Westport. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Luke Church. Burial will follow at Assumption Cemetery in Greens Farms.
