Naomi Weiss Drabkin, 81, Of Westport, Psychiatrist

WESTPORT, Conn. - Naomi Weiss Drabkin, a resident of Westport for the past 43 years, died Tuesday, April 1. She was 81.

Drabkin was born in Norwich, she was the daughter of Harry and Mildred Drabkin, and maintained her practice of psychiatry in Westport and New York City for many years. She attended Norwich Free Academy, Jackson College. She received her Bachelors Degree from City College of New York, Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa. She attended Columbia University, received her medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and completed her residency at Yale New Haven Hospital, where she was appointed clinical professor of Psychiatry. She  was a former medical director at the New Haven Veterans Hospital Psychiatric Unit.

Drabkin is survived by her son, Jeffrey Weiss of Westport; sisters, Muriel Gund of Las Vegas, Nev., Joan Chernizer of New York, N.Y.; cousins; and niece and nephews.

Services will take place at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 3 at The Abraham L. Green and Son Funeral Home, 88 Beach Road in Fairfield, with interment following at Rodeph Sholom Cemetery on Kings Highway in Fairfield. Shiva will be observed at the Weiss residence in Westport following the interment through Monday evening.
