Marie Keene, 89, Of Weston

WESTON, Conn. – Marie Keene died Thursday, Jan. 8, at Norwalk Hospital. She was 89.

She was born in Wales on Aug. 25, 1925.

During World War II, she worked in a factory making parts for airplanes. She also worked as a secretary to a U.S. major typing reports with government approval. She moved with her husband from base to base. 

She married Staff Sgt. Anson Keene of the 8th Air Force on March 3, 1945. In April of 1946, the couple moved to Weston.

She worked in banking and retired as a customer service representative from Peoples Bank in 1977. She belonged to Daughters of the British Empire for many years. She also ran dances as fundraisers and Christmas dinners for the Weston Volunteer Fire Department.

She was predeceased by her husband..

She is survived by her brother, David Richards in Wales.

A memorial service is planned for Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Emmanuel Church on Lyons Plains Road in Weston, with reception following at Emmanuel Church hall. Arrangements are in the care of County Cremation Service of Fairfield.
