Lois Hertz Lesser, Former Fairfield Resident

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Lois Hertz Lesser, a former Fairfield resident, died on Aug. 12, at her home in Sarasota, Fla. 

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Robert Lesser, sons Stanton Lesser (Jill Lesser), James Best (Ellen Best), Andrew Lesser (Judith Hersh Lesser) and daughter Laura Papageorge (Tony Papageorge), 11 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, her sister, Nancy Muskin and sister-in-law Sally Ann Shernow. 

Lois was born in Pittsburgh to Stanton and Lorine Hertz. She graduated from Smith College and had a masters in psychological Testing from Fairfield University. She was a member of the Fairfield Arts Council and a golf and tennis player. The Lesser family belonged to Congregation B'nai Israel where Robert was a former president. In later years, she and Robert divided their time between Weston and Sarasota. 

The Fairfield Democratic Town Committee said of Lesser, "It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lois Lesser, mother of Stanton Lesser, longtime Democratic Town Committee member and town attorney. We extend our deepest condolences to Stanton and his family at this very difficult time, and ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers."

Private services will be held in Sarasota with a Memorial Service being planned in Connecticut at a later date.
