WESTPORT, Conn. - Leonard David Shwartz of Westport died Saturday, June 8. He was 81.
Shwartz was born Oct. 11, 1931, in the Bronx, N.Y., to Harry Shwartz and Bertha Weitz Shwartz. He was a graduate of the Horace Mann School and the University of Pennsylvania, ’53. A lifelong entrepreneur and businessman, his last business before retirement was Leonard Shwartz Nissan in West Haven. He was a participant in the Beth El Minyannaires prayer group in Norwalk, where he also served on the Beth El Board of Trustees and was a member of the Chevra Kadisha Zichron Shabtai Leib Burial Society of Greater Bridgeport.
Shwartz is survived by his wife, Joan Shwartz; sister, Ronnie Shwartz Lustig (Jordan) of Fairfield; children, Jeffrey Shwartz (Nancy) of Newtown, Robbin Shwartz Golas (Gary) of Trumbull and Joshua Kane (Abigail) of Brooklyn, N.Y.; stepchildren, Scott Rosen (Nancy) and Dinah Rosen; and seven grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; and grandson, Maximillian Kane.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 10 at Congregation Beth El in Norwalk.
