WESTPORT, Conn. - Kenneth Archer Wilson of Westport died Saturday, April 20. He was 85.
Wilson was born Nov. 9, 1927, in Dayton, Ohio. He was a marine, private eye, artist, ad man, and radio personality. A World War II Marine Corps veteran, he enlisted at the age of 17, then worked as a private investigator in Dayton Ohio and an undercover agent for the mayor's office before entering the American Academy of Art in Chicago. He was director of advertising for Stauffer Chemical Company until his retirement in 1982. He later worked at WBTN Radio in Benningto,n Vt. He served as a volunteer Trinity Episcopal Church and also as a sponsor and counselor for inmates of Connecticut Correctional Institutions.
Wilson is survived by his wife, Mary Frances (Sayles); three children, Elizabeth Ann Matteson of Toledo, Ohio (William J. Matteson Ill); daughter, Emily Christine (Andy) Belnap, Thomas (April A. Oswald) Archer of Clinton N.Y., Patricia Gay (Chuck) Sklenka of Sebastian Fla.; and three grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 10 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 651 Pequot Ave., Southport 06890 www.trinitysouthport.org . All attending the service are invited to a catered reception at the church following the service.
