John R. Howley, Sr., 86, Mate At Captain Allen’s Clam House In Westport

DANBURY, Conn. - John "Jack" Howley, Sr. of Danbury died Thursday, Sept. 4. He was 86.

Howley was born Oct. 15, 1927, in Norwalk. He grew up in Westport, attending school there and worked as a mate at Captain Allen's Clam House. After graduating from Staples High School and enlisting in the U.S. Navy, he began his lifelong career in the construction business.

Howley is survived by his wife, Gloria (Marx) Howley; daughter, Susan Howley; son, John, Jr. (Cynthia); brother, Thomas Howley (Joann); two grandsons; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

There are no calling hours. Funeral Services will be private.
