WESTPORT, Conn. – John James Izzo Sr., 71, a lifelong Westport resident, died Friday, March 13.

He owned Arrow Express Inc. couriers in Bridgeport, invented the Bikers Delight Signal Light, and was a former Westport selectman.

He was a Staples High School graduate, Class of 1961, and received his associate's degree from Norwalk Community College. An avid golfer, he enjoyed many days at Longshore Golf Course and Mario’s Place as well as tooling around in his green 1967 Ford Exel convertible. 

Survivors include his wife, Joan Avery Izzo; two sons, Joseph (Tricia) Izzo of Milford, and John Jr. (Lisa) Izzo of Fairfield; six siblings, Mary Lehn, Florence (Lee) Schaffer, Anthony, James, Bernard, and Francis (Cookie); four grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, James and Angelina DiDomenico Izzo; four sisters, Theresa, Antoinette, Sarah, and Rosie; and two brothers, Salvatore and Joseph.

Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, at the Harding Funeral Home, 210 Post Road, Westport.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 18, at the Assumption Church, 98 Riverside Ave., Westport.

Interment will be private.
