WESTON, Conn. – John E. DeLara of Weston and formerly of Westport died Oct. 24 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Bridgeport. He was 52.
He was born Aug. 31, 1960, in Beacon, N.Y., to George and Catherine DeLara. A former Westport resident, DeLara and his wife, Stephanie, and son, J.T., have been residents of Weston for the past 12 years. He graduated from SUNY-Cortland with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics in 1982.
DeLara worked at IBM for many years. Until his recent illness, he worked for Pearson Education as a vice president of production services. He was an active member and volunteer with the Weston Kiwanis Club and St. Francis of Assisi Church.
He is survived by his parents, his wife and son.
Visitation is 4 to 9 p.m. Friday at Harding Funeral Home in Westport. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Weston. Interment will be private.
