James J. Ullrich, 61, Westport Accountant

WESTPORT, Conn. – James J. Ullrich of Westport died Nov. 25 at his home, surrounded by family. He was 61.

Ullrich was born April 10, 1951, in Howard Beach, N.Y., to Thomas H. and Mary Ullrich. A resident of Westport for the past nine years, he was formerly of Norwalk. He was married to Janice Marshall Pepin Ullrich, who survives him.

He was most recently employed as a CPA and financial analyst for Semi-Conductor Inc. in Stamford. Ullrich was previously employed with Chemical Bank of New York City, PanAm Airways, Salabello & Broder CPA firm, Nine West, Starwood Properties and WorkflowOne. He founded TaxPro LLC and CFOPro LLC.

He graduated from Pace University and served as board chairman of Christian Community Action, treasurer of Toastmasters and treasurer of the United Methodist Church of Westport.

Ullrich was also a former member and EMT with Bravo Volunteer Ambulance in Brooklyn, N.Y. He was involved in the "Mondays at 7" networking group and active with the United Methodist Church.

He is also survived by a son, Matthew B. Ullrich, of Woodstock, Ga.; a stepson, Joseph M. Pepin, of Westport; a brother, Robert O’Connell, of Floral Park, N.Y.; a sister, Dolores O’Connell, North Fort Myers, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Maureen O’Connell, of Pawleys Island, S.C.; his first wife and good friend, Gail Ullrich, of Marietta, Ga.; and three nephews and a niece. Ullrich was predeceased by a brother, Thomas O’Connell.

Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Harding Funeral Home in Westport. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at United Methodist Church of Westport.
