EASTON, Conn. - James G. O'Connell of Easton died Tuesday, Oct. 29. He was 88.

O’Connell was born May 18, 1925, in Bridgeport, son of John and Kathleen Fitzgerald O'Connell and was a longtime resident of Easton. He was served in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of World War II. Before his retirement in 1988, he was a steamfitter and member of Local 777 for many years.

O’Connell is survived by his wife, Mildred; daughter, Ellen Salerno (Marc) of Shelton; a grandson; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; son, Timothy G. O'Connell; and brothers John and Robert O'Connell.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 4, at Notre Dame Church, 655 Morehouse Road, Easton. Interment with full military honors will follow in Aspetuck Cemetery, Easton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to National Sports Center for the Disabled , 677 Winter Park Drive, Winter Park, CO 80482.
