Irving “Snapper” P. Mills, 88, Of Westport

WESTPORT, Conn. – Irving “Snapper” P. Mills, 88, husband of Dolores Maresca Mills and lifelong resident of Westport, died Sunday, July 19 at Norwalk Hospital.

Mills was born in Westport Aug. 24, 1926, and was the son of the late Clifford and Catherine (Healy) Mills. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. He worked for Kowalsky Brothers in Westport and for the Town of Westport as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the Joseph J. Clinton VFW Post 399 in Westport and he loved fishing and stock car racing.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, Dolores, of 65 years, include a brother and sister-in-law; a sister; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to his parents, Irving was predeceased by two sisters.

The family will receive friends Saturday, July 25 from 9-10:45 a.m. in the Harding Funeral Home, 210 Post Road East, Westport. A funeral will follow at 11 a.m. in Assumption Church, 98 Riverside Ave., for a mass of Christian burial. Interment will follow in Assumption Cemetery, 73 Greens Farms Road, with full military honors.
