Helenanne Frederick Willmott, 84, Of Westport, Public School Teacher

WESTPORT, Conn. - Helenanne Frederick Willmott, a 57-year resident of Westport, died May 15. She was 84.

Willmott was born Sept. 30, 1928, daughter of Richard and Helen Frederick in the Bronx, New York. She grew up in Queens. A 1950 graduate of St Joseph's College, she was a New York City public school teacher. After moving to Westport in 1956, she taught at Bedford Elementary School until she began raising her family.

Willmott took her master's degree in education at the University of Bridgeport, served on the PTA, worked as a substitute teacher, and spent many years on the Westport Schools Cultural Arts and Permanent Art Collection Committees. She was president of the Westport Young Women’s League, a member of The Patterson Club in Fairfield, a Longshore golfer, and a member of St. Luke's parish for almost 40 years, participating in many volunteer activities including the Norwalk soup kitchen.

Willmott is survived by her children, Ellen Willmott of Dallas, Don Willmott of New York City, and Andrew Willmott of Fairfield (Janel); many cousins; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred D. Willmott; and her brother Walter Frederick.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. May 20 at St. Luke’s Church, 49 Turkey Hill Road, North, Westport. Private interment will be at Assumption Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wittingham Cancer Center at Norwalk Hospital 24 Stevens St. Norwalk, CT. 06856.
