Helen Kondub, 84, Westport Resident

WESTPORT, Conn. – Helen P. Kondub of Westport died Friday, Jan. 8 at St. Vincent's Hospital in Bridgeport after a brief illness. She was 84.

Born in Stamford, she moved to Westport after marrying her husband, Joseph, who she was married to for 56 years. She had many wonderful memories where she lived on Imperial Avenue for more than 50 years. Her home was the place where her family, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends spent Christmas day together enjoying laughter and stories. It also served as the neighborhood playground for her children and their friends.

Aside from her family and friends, she enjoyed her home, cooking and working in the yard. She was also a devout follower of the New York Yankees and the UCONN women's basketball team.

She is survived by her daughter Sally Schatz and her husband, Ralph, of Brookfield; sons Donald and his wife, Judi of Newton, Massachusetts; Joseph (Jay) Kondub, Jr. and his wife, Laura, of Monroe; and Ronald Kondub and his wife Maureen, of Wake Forest, North Carolina; 11 grandchildren; and a brother, Anthony, of Stamford.

She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph, and daughter, Sharon.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at the Harding Funeral Home, 210 Post Road East, Westport. Services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Assumption Church, 98 Riverside Avenue. Interment will follow in Assumption Cemetery, Greens Farms.
