WESTPORT, Conn. Harton Douglas Amos of Westport died on July 17 at Peterborough Regional Health Center, while visiting his summer residence in Bobcaygeon, Ontario, Canada. He was 68.
Amos was born on Dec. 26, 1943, in Toronto, Ontario, and was employed by General Re Insurance for 31 years in Toronto, Montreal, New York and Stamford. He was raised in Montreal and Toronto and was a proud Canadian all his life. He was known as "Doug," and had a lifelong passion for golf.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Linda Amos; a son, Stephen (Carina) Amos, of Fairfield; three brothers, John (Nancy) Amos, of Hemmingford, Quebec, Charles (Ann) Amos, of Thunder Bay, Ontario, and Christopher (Jennifer) Amos, of Ottawa, Ontario; a sister, Rosemary Hall, of Bobcaygeon, Ontario; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, David Amos; a brother-in-law, Don Hall; and a nephew, Mark.
Funeral services will be held in Ontario. Memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of Kawartha Lakes. Monk Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
