WESTPORT Conn. - Ernest Francis Ferrari of Westport died Tuesday, June 18. He was 88.
Ferrari was born in 1925 to Louisa and Natale Ferrari in Bridgeport. He graduated from Central High School in 1943. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he was trained as a radio engineer. Later he attended the University of Bridgeport, earning a bachelor degree.
He had a 52-year career as a recording industry executive. He began his career with Columbia Records while based at the firm's Bridgeport and New York City divisions. Throughout his career, he held vice president and senior management positions at the Phillips Recording Company, Arista Records, the Bertelsmann Group and RCA. He was a member of the former Rector's Athletic Association of Bridgeport, the Old Timers of Bridgeport., Cotillion Club of Westport, Y's Men of Westport/Weston, Minuteman Yacht Club of Westport and the Longshore Men's Golf Association.
Ferrari is survived by his wife, Virginia; sons, Ernest Jr. and Glen; daughter, Jill Rosen (Bruce) Rosen; two grandchildren Allison and Grant Rosen; brother, Joseph Ferrari; sister, Gloria Monaco (Ralph); sister-in-law, Gloria Plotkin; nieces and nephews; grandnieces and grandnephews; and many friends. He was predeceased by four sisters; and a brother.
Calling hours are Friday, June 21 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home , 39 S Benson Road, Fairfield. A memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, June 22 at 11 a.m. in St. Luke's Church, 49 Turkey Hill Lane, Westport, CT 06880. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Ferrari's memory to the charity of ones choice.
