FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Edward F. Bieling of Fairfield died July 21 at Ludlowe Health Care in Fairfield. He was 83.
Bieling was born March 14, 1929, to John Bieling Sr. and Gertrude O'Brien Bieling. He was raised and educated in Westport, where he lived for many years before moving to Fairfield 43 years ago.
He was married to Beverly Sander Bieling for 48 years.
A U.S. Army veteran, Bieling served during the Korean War. He worked as a butcher and then a milkman for Wade's Dairy for many years. After his retirement, Bieling worked part-time at Fair Auto Supply until the age of 80.
He was a member of American Legion Post 143 in Fairfield and Joseph J. Clinton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 399 in Westport. Bieling was an avid New York Yankees and University of Connecticut women's basketball fan.
Bieling is survived by his wife, Beverly; two daughters, Laura Bieling, of Fairfield, and Beverly (Wesley) Greenop, of Fairfield; two brothers, Gerald (June) Bieling, of Huntington, Conn., and Donald Bieling, of Norwalk; a sister, Catherine (Louis) Fratino, of Westport; two granddaughters and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a sister, Gertrude Possardt; and a brother, John Bieling Jr.
Visiration is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Harding Funeral Home in Westport. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Fairfield. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Fairfield.
