Dr. Gerald Arndt, 76, Of Westport, Licensed Marriage And Family Therapist

WESTPORT, Conn. - Dr. Gerald Arndt of Westport died April 15. He was 76.

Dr. Arndt was born May 10, 1936, in Kennan, Wisc. He graduated from Northland College in 1957 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology .He went on to earn a Master of Arts degree with the University of Minnesota in 1960 and a Doctorate in Education from the University of Rochester in 1969.

Dr. Arndt was a licensed marriage and family therapist in Westport, where he was in private practice with his wife Nancy. He developed a nationally accredited marriage and family master's degree program for the University of Bridgeport (where he was a faculty member from 1969 to 1990) and served as the area coordinator and therapist for Lutheran Family Services in Bridgeport, from 1972 to 1985. He served as president of the Connecticut Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.

Dr. Arndt moved to Carlsbad, Calif., with his wife, in 2010 and was a resident at Silverado Senior Living when he passed.

Dr. Arndt is survived by his wife, Dr. Nancy Arndt; daughters, Catherine Hare of Encinitas, Calif., and Leslie Cavaliere of Redwood City, Calif.; and one grandson.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Wisconsin.
