WESTPORT, Conn. – David Francis Kidney, a Westport resident since 1960, died Feb. 7. He was 84.
The son of David and Sara Kidney, he was born and raised in Hartford. After graduating from high school, he volunteered and served in the Army during the occupation in Japan.
Kidney then graduated from the University of Connecticut and went to work for Traveler’s Insurance, where he was employed for 35 years.
He volunteered at RSVP and the Red Cross and was an active member of the Y’s Men of Westport/Weston, Saugatuck Congregational Church, Power Squadron and Minuteman Yacht Club.
A sailor, golfer, and paddle tennis player, Kidney enjoyed travel with his wife and their many friends.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Barbara G. Kidney; a daughter Susan; two sons, David and Steven; a son-in-law, John; a daughter-in-law, Kimberly; a sister, Claire; a brother-in-law, Hugh; and nine grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Green’s Farm Congregational Church.
