TRUMBULL, Conn. - Clemincine J. (Ignitus) Miller of Trumbull died Tuesday, Sept. 30. She was 95.
Miller was born Aug. 24, 1919, in Bridgeport, to Lithuanian immigrants, Julia and Klement Ignitus. She graduated from Cumberland Hospital in N.Y., in 1942, with a degree in nursing. She then enlisted as an Army nurse during World War II. After the war, she became the industrial nurse for McKesson's & Robbins in Fairfield. After starting her family she did Public Health Nursing in the town of Easton. From there she took the job of School Nurse for Samuel Staples Elementary School in Easton for four years. She got her degree in Elementary Education by attending the University of Bridgeport on a part time basis while working and raising her family and obtained not only her Master's degree but her Sixth Year degree as well. She then took a job back at Samuel Staples School in Easton, and worked for 22 years. After marriage she made her home in Trumbull.
She was the president of her local council Knights of Lithuania 141 for many years. She went on to be the National Treasurer and earned the National Honorary Degree.
Miller is survived by her sons, Wayne (Laura) Miller of Newtown and Ron (Allison) Miller of Trumbull; four grandchildren; sister, Sylvia (Robert) D'Ausilio of Bountiful, Utah; many nieces, nephews; and great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Victor; brother, Louis Ignitus; and sisters, Elizabeth and Mildred Firer.
Calling hours are Friday, Oct 3 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Commerce Hill Funeral Home , 4798 Main St. Bridgeport. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4 at St Teresa's Church in Trumbull and graveside services to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Trumbull.
