Betty E. Ohlin, 84, Teacher In Westport

HARRISVILLE, N.Y. - Betty E. Ohlin of Harrisville died March 21. She was 84.

Ohlin was born in Fairfield, Conn., she was the daughter of Paul E. and Ruth A. (Nelson) Ohlin. She started as a teacher in Westport, Conn., and then moved on to be a professor for Rhode Island College retiring in 1991. A graduate of New Milford High School, New Milford, Conn., she received a BA from Bethel College, St. Paul, Minn., her Masters from SUI, Iowa City, Iowa and Doctoral Studies from Penn. State.

Ohlin is survived by sisters, Phyllis Gammons of Southport, Conn., Doryce Smelter from Shelton, Conn., Gail Osborne from Oakham, Mass.; and 19 nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; brother, Paul E. Ohlin Jr.; and sisters, Pearl Juris and Ruth Steeves.

Calling Hours are Friday, March 28 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, 272 Sayles Ave., Pascoag. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Conn., at the convenience of the family.
