Bernard Kabacoff, 93, Of Westport, Retired Revlon Chemist

WESTPORT, Conn. -- Bernard Louis Kabacoff, 93, of Westport, died on Wednesday, March 25.

He was born Jan. 7, 1922, in Philadelphia, to the late Morris and Fannie Richlen Kabacoff.

He was the chief chemist at Revlon Research Center. He is credited with developing many of their products, including the women’s fragrance “Charlie” and “Touch of Grey” for men.

Kabacoff earned the Cosmetic Toiletry and Fragrance Association “Chemist of the Year Award” for his work.

Survivors include his wife, Beatrice; two sons, Lawrence (Katherine) Kabacoff of Columbia, Md. and Robert (Carol Lynn) Kabacoff of Portland, Me.; one daughter, Dena (Alvin) Steinfeld of Brooklyn; two stepsons, Joshua Nemzer (Reah Pantazoupolis) of Milton, Mass. and Adam Nemzer (Valli Tschirgi) of Washington D.C.; one stepdaughter, Dorothy Sandler of Ewing, N.J.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

His first wife, Leah Kabacoff, preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be private.

Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Ave., Norwalk, is handling the arrangements.
