REDDING, Conn. – Bernard B. Beyman, of Redding, died Jan. 27 at Norwalk Hospital. He was 88.
Born March 4, 1924, in the Bronx, N.Y., he served as a member of the U.S. Army Signal Corps and a sharpshooter in the Army infantry during World War II in North Africa, Central Europe, Northern France, Italy and Germany.
After the war, Beyman married Miriam Simon, who survives him. They moved to Norwalk in 1964 and were most recently of Redding.
He graduated from the City College of New York and Rutgers University, where he earned a master’s degree in finance.
During a long career as a financial executive and analyst, Beyman worked in the defense industry, including for the former Condec Corp. of Greenwich, Avco Lycoming and Loral Electronic Systems.
An avid New York Yankees fan, he has attended games since the Babe Ruth era. Over the years, he enjoyed days at Yankee Stadium with his sons, grandchildren and extended family. He enjoyed political discourse, Sunday talk shows and history books.
In addition to his wife, Beyman is survived by two sons, Jon and Rip; two daughters-in-law, Susan and Michelle; two sisters, Janet Green and Ethel (Mel) Rimmer; and five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Temple Shalom in Norwalk. Burial will follow at Temple Shalom Cemetery. Shiva will be Tuesday after the service and from 1 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Collins Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, Jewish War Veterans or a favorite charity.
