CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Agatha “Bing” Martin Burke of Charlottesville, Va., a former Westport resident, died March 16. She was 89.
Burke was born in Schenectady, N.Y., to Frederick Martin and Agatha Shanahan. She graduated from Russell Sage College and went to work for General Electric. In 1973, after her marriage, she moved along with her family to Westport for the relocation of General Electric. Here they built their home and lived there for 33 years. In 2006, they moved to Charlottesville.
Burke is survived by her husband, David; son, James Burke of Bisbee, Ariz.; daughter, Barbara Bell (Dave), of Ivy, Va.; one granddaughter; daughter-in-law, Ellen Burke of Santa Fe, N.M. She was predeceased by her parents; eldest son, David Burke; sister, Mary Finn.
Interment in Hoosick Falls, N.Y. with a private Mass Thursday, March 21, at 2 p.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church on Alderman Road.
